Source and coverage

Every sale is a public MagiSat purchase or accepted offer, pulled daily from the same endpoints the MagiSat site itself uses. Magic Eden closed its rare-sats market and its history is not available, so early months reflect one venue and thinner volume. USD figures use the BTC price of the sale day (mempool.space).

How a sale is assigned to a tag

Tags are decided from the sat number and its block, not from the marketplace's own label. A 450x dp is a palindrome inside 45,000,000,000–45,099,999,999; vintage means the first 1,000 blocks; 2009 means block 32,489 or earlier. Where one sat fits several tags the rarer one wins and the broader one gives it up: 450x dp is removed from 450x, 2009 uncommon from alpha uncommon, block78 dp and the block 9/78/286/666 palindromes from vintage dp, block-first sats (uncommons) from every alpha tag, and perfect / block78 palindromes from 2d dp. Digit-pattern tags (2d dp, perfect dp) can still coincide with block tags such as vintage dp.

Prices

Average is the volume-weighted price per sat: a bundle of 100 sats counts as 100 units, so the average is total money over total sats. One big sale can lift a whole month, so the tooltip and the table also give the median per-sat price, which a single sale cannot move. In BTC mode, prices of 10,000 sats and above are written in BTC, smaller ones in sats. Floor is the lowest current ask on MagiSat for that exact tag, with inscribed sats skipped, matching what the site shows with "Show inscribed" off.

Data hygiene

Three checks run against the chain before anything is counted. A listing counts once even when the buyer's transaction was replaced and the marketplace logged several attempts — the one that actually spent the UTXO is kept. A sale whose per-sat price is more than twenty times the month's median is verified against the buyer's transaction, and if the chain shows a much smaller payment the chain amount is used. Inscribed sats are excluded throughout: they trade as NFTs, not as rare sats. When a 450x dp is sold bundled with plain 450x sats, the plain sats are valued at the surrounding three-month 450x average and counted under 450x; the remainder is the pali's price.

Reading the page

Monthly shows the full history; Last 30 days shows day by day, with empty days kept so gaps are visible. Hover any chart to read all three charts at that date. The table below the charts holds the same numbers, including the median, and can be collapsed.
